When thinking about what school to attend to, it is likely you have thought about the size of the student body. But, what about the size of the actual campus too? Below is a list of notoriously large colleges in the US by campus area.
Berry College (Mount Berry, GA)
~27,000 acres
Despite having just over 2,200 students, it’s rural campus is likely the largest college campus in the US (college size can vary by source). Berry’s land is used for activities like horseback riding and biking, and most of it is open to the public. However, camping is reserved for students.

SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (Syracuse, NY)
~25,000 acres
Even though it has just over 1,600 students, it’s campus is gigantic. Most of their land is managed forest and natural land used for environmental research and field stations.

United States Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, CO)
~18,455 acres
The Air Force Academy has around 4,000 students and has a 27-acre garden, an airfield, and an iconic chapel.

West Point (West Point, NY)
~16,000 acres
West Point has an enrollment around 4,300 and boasts a lot of land for training and other activities.

University of the South – Sewanee (Sewanee, TN)
~13,000 acres
Sewanee’s campus is on the Cumberland Plateau, a section of the Appalachian plateau that is 1,000 feet above the surrounding regions. Furthermore, Sewanee’s land used for research and recreation.

Paul Smith’s College (Paul Smiths, NY)
~14,200 acres
Paul Smith’s is a private college located in the Adirondacks. Even though it is around 14,000 acres, it’s student body only sits at around 700.
